As “INSPIRATION” has been the theme for the term with group C,
we knew this talk would be an inspiring one to say the least. Theatre Trips For all
As is the case every year, at Act One, Theatre trips were
planned for
all students this term and we were excited about the productions
involved.
Firstly, On the 17th November Group C went to the `Project Theatre’ to
see Corn Exchange Theatre Company’s Production of “Dublin
By Lamplight” .
The Project Theatre was also the venue for another theatre trip.
This time for Groups B1 and B2. The play was an adaptation of Oscar
Wilde’s
classic
fairytale, “The Nightingale” and was told through
the medium of song. We
attended the show on Wednesday 8th December at 6pm and
it proved
to be a festive treat for all. On our return date after the Christmas break, Saturday,
January 8th, Group A
had something special to look forward to. They
attended the
show, Pinoccio at the Civic Theatre in Tallaght. Looking Back :
As we head into another year , we reflect on a wonderful Summer
of successful courses which ran for children aged 5 to 13
years throughout the month
of July at our centre in Terenure. The groups took part
in a roller coaster ride of activities and specialised workshops.
The following are just some of
the people they worked with and activities that they took
part in : Donal O'Farrell, stuntman and fight co-ordinator, took time out of his very busy schedule to work with one of the groups on the fight scenes for their play. He also took a questions and answers session with the group , sharing his wide range of experience and knowledge of the business. MaSamba Samba School took loud, interactive drumming workshops with all ages bringing along huge drums and instruments from Brazil for all to use. The Abbey Theatre welcomed us in behind the scenes where we took part in a very special backstage workshop. The group were asked to do a bit of detecting work and discover hidden secrets about the theatre's history and past and all that goes on behind the scenes of our National Theatre. Ray Darcy, Ray paid us a visit on the final day of the courses and also took questions from the group about the work he does both in radio and TV. An entertaining hour, without a doubt ! Thanks Ray. Click here for a Photo of Ray at Act One. .....Juggling skills, modern dance, mask work, and the final day performances made the month of July 2004 an action packed one for all. Thanks to all the guest tutors, facilitators, parents and children who took part ! Looking Forward : Autumn is coming and we look forward with high
hopes for another creative, fun packed year, starting Saturday
10th September. Please note there are some changes to the times for workshops this year.
